Ash Hollow Form
Woodturning Project creating a Beautiful Hollow Form Vessel from an Ash Log.
In this Wood Turning Project, I use Traditional Tools to shape the outside of an End Grain Ash Log and Hope Easy Arm Laser system to scallop out the inside of the Hollow Form to a consistent 10mm (3/8”) wall thickness.
This Wooden Vessel is shaped with the Rule of Thirds in mind, in that the widest part of the Hollow Form is one third of the outside diameter away from the top and the base diameter is one third of the outside diameter.
The End Grain Hollow Form is supported with a Steady Rest and inside drilled to remove most of the center mass before Hollowing and finished with abrasive pastes and a Gloss Finishing Wax.
